A Bridge Between Street Combat and Tradition

Renshi Patrick's martial arts journey began in 1976 at just 8 years old. For 25 years, he trained extensively in non-traditional Street Combat Jiu-Jitsu at the Tai-Zen Academy of Self-Defense, under the world-renowned Grandmaster Howard Teague.

This experience gave him a deep, practical understanding of fundamental body mechanics and the nuanced concepts of distance, timing, power, and impact as they relate directly to self-defense in real-world street combat.

Integrating with the Takamine Lineage

For over 11 years, Renshi Patrick has dedicated himself to training under Hanshi Takamine. He has successfully integrated his vast practical knowledge with the deep, traditional principles of the Takamine-Oyata lineage.
